It’s been a busy month for us personally so I have not been out in the garden much, however, I do have a little September garden update. Life, it has been a doozy around our house this month. Mr. CT had an accident with his horse this month and broke his shoulder as well as a few small fractures in his back. We have spent a lot of time at the doctor’s office, then to surgery for his shoulder and now recouping at home. He will be going to physical therapy in November.

The personal-sized spaghetti squash I grew has still produced a few more fruits; spaghetti with the noodles is on the menu this week.
The jalapenos I started from seeds over the summer have little tiny jalapenos on them, so those will be ready to harvest in October. The poblano plants are big, but I don’t have any peppers yet.

Due to our high temperatures still, I started my lettuce, broccoli and cilantro seeds indoors under grow lights. Those will be ready to set out in the garden in October when it cools down.

Two of my raised garden beds have black loamy soil; while it holds water well, the soil is super hard with a lot of dirt clods. I tilled those beds and added sand mixed with the top layer of soil. Hopefully, the lighter sand mixture will give my seeds this fall a better substrate to grow in.

Now, are you ready for a harvest total update:
